A word to the addict: You Are Loved

“The enemy comes but to kill, steal, and destroy.” John 10:10

He will rob you of your identity and self-esteem through addiction. He doesn’t want you to know who you are: a child of God who’s infinitely loved! When you get a deep revelation of this truth you’re powerful and know the devil in hell can’t keep you from your divine destiny. This is why the enemy will use every tactic to bring you down. He knows just how much power is in you. After all, you have inherited your Heavenly Father’s characteristics, but perhaps you haven’t read the will yet: the New Testament. Check out the books written by the Apostle Paul; you’ll understand how much you are loved and who you truly are.

Bible verses for the addict

Pray that your Heavenly Father will help you receive this most powerful truth that will set you free: you are loved more than any earthly parents could ever love their child. We are told though out scripture of God’s undying love for us:

“For I know the plans I have for you” declares the Lord, “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope”” Jeremiah 29:11, NLT

“How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand…” Psalms 139:17-18, KJV.

“See, I have written your name on the palms of my hands” Isaiah 49:16, NLT.

“But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows” Luke 12:17, KJV.

How precious are these scriptures! God loves us so much that He has written our names in the palm of His hand. I am reminded of the puppy love of a schoolgirl crush: so in love with the boy in class that all she does is constantly think of him. Our Father loves us immensely—he is so enamored with us that He writes our names on His hand! Think of that next time you are craving a fix. Let that fill your soul. The above verses also tell us that God thinks of us constantly and pays great attention to the details of our lives. You must know He doesn’t want you to continue to succumb to the enemy’s dreadful addiction strategy to keep from His presence.

How to treat the spiritual disease of addiction

Although nothing can ever separate you from the love of God, when you focus on the addiction, God then becomes miniscule; you don’t know He’s there with you, but He always is. All the negativity surrounding your quest for the next fix blocks the reception of the love that He constantly transmits to you! Next time you focus on the craving of your drug of choice immediately shift your focus on His love for you!

It is because of who He is, not who you are or what you have done or haven’t done, that results in the blessing upon your life. He loves you beyond measure and wants to bless you for eternity. Believe it, know it, and get it firmly planted as the seed drops from your mind into the fertile ground of your heart, which is your transformation center—then His grace will flow like a tidal wave into your life. Magnify His love, and His love will forever surround you like the universe surrounds the Milky Way.

Affirmations for addicts

I am the child that God loves! Knowing this creates stability, power, and a sense that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you! Keep repeating it. “I am the child that God loves.” Say it until it becomes alive in your spirit. Saturate the atmosphere with this profound truth and see how your world will change!

I now realize that God was waiting for me; He was always waiting for me to come to Him, just as He is waiting for you to come to Him. He is our sweet Abba Father with His arms wide open. Go! Run! Jump into His arms. He will catch you and give you love like you never experienced because you are the child that God loves.
